Serve at Love of Christ: The life of our church, our worship, and our programs would not happen every week without our incredible volunteers! There are opportunities to serve helping in our front office, greeting folks on Sunday mornings, sharing your musical gifts with the congregation, helping with Vacation Bible School, and many, many other ways to serve.
Serve Our Local Community: We are blessed to be a blessing and making a difference outside our walls is an important part of values we hold as a community of folks following Christ. We work with numerous local organizations in the valley to provide relief and resources for our neighbors.
Serve the World: Being a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America gives us a unique opportunity as a church community to reach out to our neighbors beyond our borders.

Opportunities to serve:
Sleep in Heavenly Peace:
There are over 6,000 children in the valley who are on a waiting list at Sleep in Heavenly Peace, and are currently sleeping on an air mattress, sofa or on the floor. Let's pitch in and make sure kids in our community have a place to lay their heads at night. SHP now has 326 chapters in the US, as well as chapters in Canada and Bermuda. SHP is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. (Federal ID: 46-4346568) "In Arizona, we have built and delivered more than 3,200 beds, while nationally, we expect to hit 50,000 this year," said Joe Genovese, SHP's chapter president in Phoenix. “If a child needs a bed, we want to make sure they get one. No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!“
Join a bed building event! - for more information or to register for a build, use this link:
https://shpbeds.org/chapter/az-phoenix/
At the top of the page is a “Volunteer” tab which will allow you to search for builds by zip code and if one works for you, click on it and it will bring you to an info page with a sign-up button.
In addition, we have an exciting event coming up in February (2-8-25) – the first all-female build at 5125 E. Madison St Phoenix, AZ 85034! The work does not require construction skills, is not hard to do, and does not require a huge amount of strength (although a fellow volunteer refers to buildings and deliveries as SHP’s free gym membership!)
